Which Macintoshes Can Boot Into Mac OS 9 (Classic OS)?
Any G3 or G4 computer sold before January 7, 2003 will boot into Mac OS 9.2.2 or Classic OS. Some Macintoshes sold since January 7, 2003 will also boot into Classic. Check the Apple support web site for specific information on any model of Macintosh computer. A list of Macintoshes that will only boot Mac OS X can be found on Apple support article 86209.
Apple has dropped support of the Classic OS in Mac OS X 10.5 ("Leopard"). See Classic support in Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard) for more information.
