Apple Remote Desktop vs. Remote Desktop Connection Client
Apple Remote Desktop 3 is a software package from Apple that lets an administrator or technician work on another Macintosh from his or her own Macintosh. The person running the administrative copy of Apple Remote Desktop can do anything to the remote computer that the owner of the computer can do. The price of this software is based on the number of licences needed since each computer to be administrated is considered one license. Visit the Apple Remote Desktop web site for more information.
Note: Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard) now includes the ability to do remote desktop or collaborative desktop sharing.
Remote Desktop Connection Client is a Microsoft product that allows users of Mac OS 10.1 or later to connect to PCs running a variety of versions of the Windows operating system and use them as though they were actually sitting in front of the PC. The program is free from Microsoft and can be downloaded from Microsoft's web site.
