What is the Most Recent Version of Mac OS Classic?
Mac OS 9.2.2 is the most recent version of the classic Mac OS. It was released May 12, 2001 and will likely be the last version of the classic OS to be released by Apple. It is available via the Software Update control panel for Mac OS 9.2.1 users.
Users running Mac OS 9.0.0 through 9.0.4 should download the Mac OS 9.1 updater from the Apple support web site and install it. After successfully updating to 9.1, go back to the Apple support web site and download the 9.2.1 update and install it. Then proceed to the Software Update control panel and update to 9.2.2.
Users running Mac OS 9.1 should download the Mac OS 9.2.1 updater from the Apple support web site and install it. Then proceed to the Software Update control panel and update to 9.2.2.
