PocketPC: checking POP3 e-mail directly

- Instead of syncing with outlook or another client.

Launch Pocket Mail
(Inbox from the Windows menu in the top left corner).

Tap "Services" -> "New Service..."
Enter the following information, then click OK:

  • E-Mail Address - lastname.#@osu.edu, Click Next
  • Auto configuration - Click Next
  • Your Name - your first and last name
  • User Name - your OSU username (lastname.#)
  • Password - Leave blank, Click Next
  • Service Type - POP3
  • Name - OSU POP, Click Next
  • Incoming Mail - pop.service.ohio-state.edu
  • Outgoing Mail - *** - smtp.service.ohio-state.edu
    ***NOTE: If you connect from an OSU Residence Hall, use smtp.resnet.ohio-state.edu. If you do not connect to the Internet through OSU, you will need to use your ISP's outgoing mail server. See this page for details.
  • Domain - Leave Blank, Click Finish
When you have more than one email service in Inbox you have to switch between the different ones to view your email. You can do that two ways.
  • Tap the Services menu
  • Tap the name of the different service you want to see.
    The Services menu only lists your POP3 or IMAP4 services.
  • The other way is to tap the drop-down menu at the top left-hand side of the screen.
    Usually it says Inbox, with an upside down arrow to the right.
    When you tap
    that the structure of all your email services expands.
  • To move to the ActiveSync inbox tap the plus to the left of ActiveSync
  • Tap Inbox.
  • To move to one of the other email service inboxes tap expand the service
    name
    Then tap Inbox.
