Configuring Eudora Pro on the Macintosh to use OSU's Directory Services (LDAP)
To configure Eudora Pro on the Macintosh to use OSU's Directory Services (LDAP) for directory information:
- Go to the Special menu and select Settings.
- Click on the "Hosts" icon.
- In the "Ph/LDAP Server" field, enter: ldap://directory.service.ohio-state.edu/ou=People,dc=osu,dc=edu
- Click OK.
NOTE: With the previous Whois directory, you needed to enter a period between the first and last names when doing a query (ie John.Smith). This is not necessary with the new server. You can use a space instead (ie. John Smith).
- Go to the Window menu and select Directory Services
- Enter your search in the box.
- If "live queries" is turned on (an option after you reach step 3 above), the results will display automatically. Otherwise, click the Lookup button.
- The results will be displayed below the search field.
- If multiple results are found, click on the result you want to use, then click the To: button (or Bcc: / Cc:) to create a new message to the selected person.
