Configuring Eudora Pro on the Macintosh to use OSU's Directory Services (LDAP)

To configure Eudora Pro on the Macintosh to use OSU's Directory Services (LDAP) for directory information:
  1. Go to the Special menu and select Settings.
  2. Click on the "Hosts" icon.
  3. In the "Ph/LDAP Server" field, enter: ldap://directory.service.ohio-state.edu/ou=People,dc=osu,dc=edu
  4. Click OK.
To query the LDAP Server:

NOTE: With the previous Whois directory, you needed to enter a period between the first and last names when doing a query (ie John.Smith). This is not necessary with the new server. You can use a space instead (ie. John Smith).

  1. Go to the Window menu and select Directory Services
  2. Enter your search in the box.
  3. If "live queries" is turned on (an option after you reach step 3 above), the results will display automatically. Otherwise, click the Lookup button.
  4. The results will be displayed below the search field.
  5. If multiple results are found, click on the result you want to use, then click the To: button (or Bcc: / Cc:) to create a new message to the selected person.
