Student Organization Web Page FTP Instructions
The following instructions are sent to webmasters of student organizations when their account has been created.

Connect to the server: webadmin.service.ohio-state.edu
User Id: *name.#@org*
(your OSU Internet ID @ your website)
Password: your OSU Internet ID password
(the password you might use to read your OSU email or review your grades)
Welcome to the OSU NextWeb environment. Here are some details to get you started.
When you connect with FTP, you will see 3 directories:
1) htdocs Your web documents will go in htdocs.
If you're using an editor such as Dreamweaver or Contribute, you should make your 'default directory' / htdocs.
2) php-data is a directory that can hold files that php scripts can write to.
3) tmp is a directory for files that you want to share with systems administrators.
Your main page should be titled index.html or index.htm and must be placed in the htdocs directory with your other web pages. Your site will not be accessible until you have placed an index.html file in your htdocs directory.

To view statistics for your site connect to
http://webadmin.service.ohio-state.edu
Login with your OSU internet ID *name.#*
OSU internet ID password
Organization site name *org*
Statistics are generated every hour.
All questions and problems regarding this FTP account must be directed to 8help@osu.edu or 688-HELP, the OIT Help desk. Please request your AR trouble ticket number to assure the best service. Messages sent as replies to this message will be forwarded to the OIT Help desk.
Please note the following:
The web pages of student organizations are intended to describe and represent the organization; they should not include any commercial advertising or personal web pages of members of the organization. A hard quota of 45 megabytes of space is allotted for these pages. Requests for more disk space will be reviewed for merit, and may be sent to 8help@osu.edu.
INACTIVITY: Student organization websites which go more than one calendar year without being updated will be removed. Please make backups of your content!
OIT account information such as user ids and passwords are not to be shared.
If this web space is used for purposed other than those stated above, the privilege of the space may be removed.
