Adobe Acrobat Reader freezes or locks up on startup
Check the following folders for a large number of Acrxxxx.tmp files (where xxxx are random characters):
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp
...where username is your Windows username.*
C:\Windows\Temp
* To see the Local Settings folder, you may need to turn on the option to view hidden files and folders. To do this:
- When you open the "Documents and Settings" folder, go to the Tools Menu and select Folder Options...
- Click on the View tab.
- Select Show hidden files and folders.
- Click OK, then proceed to navigate to the folder described above.
You should also upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader.
