Virus Scan 8.0 limits access to outbound e-mail (SMTP)
In order to prevent the spread of mass mailing worms, Virus Scan 8.0 limits which applications can connect to the port (25) used to send e-mail.
If you use an application that requires access to port 25 that is not on this list (see below), you can configure access for it by doing the following:
- Right click on the V-Shield icon in your system tray and select Virus Scan Console...
- Double click on the icon labeled "Access Protection".
- Double click the rule labeled "Prevent mass mailing worms from sending mail".
- In the "Excluded Processes" field, scroll to the end of the list, add a comma, then enter the name of the application you are using.
- Click OK twice.
The following is a list of applications that Virus Scan 8.0 allows to connect to port 25 by default:
- agent.exe
