Spyware can steal your personal data
Programs secretly installed on your computer can steal your personal data.
Intrusive programs called spyware could be running on your computer without your knowledge. You can pick up these programs from viruses, when you download online music, install free software, or accept a product's End User License Agreement without reading the fine print. Spyware can slow down your computer, and it can lead to identity theft when it relays your personal and confidential information to online intruders.
Additional information about spyware and how to avoid them on your computer is available at OSU's Safe Computing site.
