Citrix Setup & Connection Instructions for Macintosh Classic

The instructions that follow explain how to set up the Citrix ICA client for Macintosh Classic (MacOS 9.x). This type of connection will open a separate Windows-type session on your computer.

  1. First download the Presentation Server Client install file from the Download Clients page at the Citrix web site:

    http://www.citrix.com

  2. When the download is finished, open the folder called "Citrix ICA Client 6.20" and then double-click on the Installer icon.

  3. A Citrix splash screen appears; click on Continue.

  4. Read the license agreement that is displayed and then click on Yes to indicate you accept the terms.

Note: If you previously installed Citrix, you'll be asked whether you want to upgrade (preserves your settings) or install a new copy of the client.

  5. Next select what type of installation you want to do (an Easy Install is recommended) and a destination location. Click on Install when you're ready to proceed.

  6. Progress information is displayed as the installer sets up the necessary files. When you see a message saying the installation was successful, click on Quit.

  7. To connect, you must enter the appropriate settings. Open the "Citrix ICA Client" folder, and click on the Citrix ICA Client Editor icon. A dialog box labeled "Citrix ICA Client Editor: untitled" appears.

  8. From the Options menu, choose Default Settings. A second dialog box appears; select Server Location from the drop-down menu at the top.

  9. Supply the following information:

Network Protocol: Be certain the TCP/IP option is selected.
Address List: Click Add, type ica.service.ohio-state.edu, and then click OK.
Server Group: Click Published Application, and select Arms Server Farm from the Double arrow menu menu.

Click Save to return to the "Citrix ICA Client Editor: untitled" dialog box.

  10. Choose Security from the drop-down menu. In the area labeled "Encryption," click to remove the checkmark from Use default encryption level and then choose 128 bit from the drop-down "Encryption Level" menu.

  11. If you like, you can change the following default settings by choosing Window from the drop-down menu, unchecking Use Default, and then selecting a new value.

Window Size can be set however you prefer, although the normal screen size is 1024 x 768.

Window Colors should be set to at least 256 colors.

  12. Click on Save to create a login profile you can use to connect in the future. If you do this, it's probably best to not include your password in the profile. You then will be prompted for a password when connecting.

Additional information on using Citrix to run PeopleSoft Financials or Human Resources applications is available.
