OSU Wireless-Cellular: Broken Cell Phones
If your phone simply needs to be repaired, please see the following article first for information:
Sprint RepairsIf your OIT Cellular phone is broken and needs to be replaced and is not covered by the warranty, three solutions are available:
- If you have insurance, and your phone is not liquid damaged, you need to report the problem within 60 days of the problem occurring
- You will have to pay $50 deductible upon receipt of the phone.
- Only 2 replacements are allowed in one 12-month period; after 2nd replacement, insurance is canceled
- If eligible, you may renew your contract (pending other eligibility requirements):
- Sprint: After 18 months of your agreement, you may renew your agreement and upgrade your cellular phone.
- You may order a phone through OIT or you may purchase a new phone at any retail store which stocks Sprint equipment (the Sprint store, Best Buy, Radio Shack, etc.). You may then contact a cellular specialist at OIT - Telecom & Networking in order to have the number switched over to the new equipment. This can be done over the phone or in person.li>
- If you choose to order a phone through OIT please send a request in writing (email, fax, etc.) indicating the model of the phone you would like to order, the retail cost of the phone, and the address where you would like it shipped. Then make a payment on-line or by phone for your order. If you make your payment on line please be aware that although your account will not reflect a balance which includes the cost of the phone you must still make a payment for this amount before your order is processed.
NOTE: OIT - Telecom & Networking cannot always transfer phonebooks, pictures, etc. when a phone is switched out. You may need to take both phones to a Sprint store for that.
