UCD (Uniform Call Distribution)



UCD (Uniform Call Distribution) is a service available to administrative departments by OIT Telecommunciations and Networking. A virtual number is created that distributes calls to phone numbers that have the UCD feature. Agents log into the UCD group, thus making them available to take calls routed by the virtual number. If a call goes unanswered, the agent will automatically be logged out (there can be exceptions to this). In the case that no agents are available, options are available such as placing callers into a queue or routing them to an alternative number.

Optional monthly reports that show the number of calls offered to the group, answered, abandoned (caller hung up prior to the call being answered), and deflected (given a busy signal or routed to another number) are available upon request for $10.00/month.

To order UCD for your department or to discuss whether UCD would benefit your office, contact your OIT Account Manager

  • An administrative order charge would apply upon installation ($34.00)
  • The UCD Group Number (virtual number) is $14.25/month
  • Each UCD feature (on each phone) is $1.70/month

Using the UCD feature

NOTE: Phones can only log into one UCD group at a time.

To log into a UCD group:

  1. Get dial tone
  2. Press *88, hear 3 beeps and dial tone
  3. Enter the 5 digit UCD group phone number, hear 2 beeps then silence
  4. Hang up
To log out of a UCD group:
  1. Get dial tone
  2. Press *89, hear 2 beeps then silence
  3. Hang up
