TTY/TDD Software Available (TextNet)

OIT currently provides a software solution to administrative departments for accepting TTY (Teletypwriter) calls from individuals who are hearing impaired. This software, TextNet, eliminates the need to have a separate TTY machine set up in your office.

TextNet is installed on a staff member's machine and can be set up to automatically start when you log into your computer. Calls "ring" in through the software, opening up an interface very similar to popular Instant Messaging programs. In a two paneled window, you can effectively communicate with your hearing impaired customers offering your services and support.

Upon ordering, your department will get:

  • A dedicated line for TTY (a $16.15 line charge is applied)
  • FREE software installation and support
  • Routing from the OSU Operators (Directory Assistance)
To order this service for your department or inquire how this service may increase productivity, contact OIT Telecommunications and Networking at 688-HELP(4357 OPTION 2).
