OSU Wireless-Network: Linksys Wireless Cards (Win2K)
The following instructions are for setting up Linksys Wireless G external PC Cards and US devices on a laptop with Windows 2000 for OSUWireless access. These instructions may also apply to other adapters that have WPA/PEAP built into them.
NOTE: First, create an OSUWireless ID and PIN at the OIT Account Management site.- Follow the instructions that came with the device to install the drivers.
- Do not add any WEP or WPA encryption during the installation process.
- Reboot your laptop and insert the card.
- Open the Adapter Configuration Utility.
- Create a new profile.
- Give the profile a name. For example: osuwireless.
- Select Infrastructure Mode.
- When asked for an SSID, type in osuwireless.
- Select Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS information automatically.
- For encryption method, select WPA RADIUS.
Depending on the manufacturer, it may be called WPA Enterprise, WPA RADIUS, or something similar. DO NOT select WPA Personal or WPA- PSK. - For Encryption Type, select TKIP.
- For Authentication Method, select EAP-PEAP.
- For Certificate type, select MSCHAPv2.
- Enter your OSUWireless ID and PIN.
- Save the profile.
- Connect to the Network.
You may be asked to accept a certificate the first time you connect. If so, the certificate will be issued by The Ohio State University and Equifax.
