Anti-Spam Service: Advanced Troubleshooting and Diagnostics

Advanced users and local support staff: If you want to know more details about the CanIt Pro System, please see the technical users guide https://antispam.osu.edu/CanIt-PRO-Users-Guide.pdf

Following are some additional troubleshooting tips and information:
Viewing the the header area when logged in and using the expert interface can help diagnose some problems. While looking at the header, you should see the following centered and at the top of most pages:

You have write permission in the Spam database.
Viewing stream: name.#

If something different appears, the default stream has not been set correctly. Here are two examples:

You have write permission in the Spam database.
Viewing stream: name.# (Redirected to 11_tagonly_no_subject)
The previous example shows how the header appears by default, before a person chooses to allow the antispam system to trap mail. If the goal is to actually allow the system to function, the default stream will have to be set to a name.# as in the Set Your Default Stream section of the antispam introduction article.
You have write permission in the Spam database.
Viewing stream: name.# (Redirected to)
This heading is usually caused by going back to the Simple Interface and clicking on "Set Spam-Scanning Level" when no option is selected and will result in some people getting an error when trying to send this person mail. SMTP Error 4.3.2 Please Try Again Later
