Anti-Spam Service: Working with Organizational and Other Special E-mail Addresses and Usernames
The basic instructions for logging into the Anti-Spam service and setting up streams are based on setting up the service for an individual e-mail account for which the OSU Internet Username access is in the standard format of lastname.#
Following are the changes to the basic instructions that are required for non-personal accounts and non-standard usernames:
- Individual OSU Internet Usernames in the old magnus style format (Example: jdoe instead of doe.999
- When you are logging into the Anti-Spam Service, you will be unable to use your magnus-style username. You will, however, be able to use your lastname.# along with the password you normally use when using your magnus-style username to log into secure sites. (Reference: Anti-Spam Service: Getting Started - Turning on the Service (step 3 in the section on "Setting Up Your Personal Stream"
- When you are setting up your personal stream (step 8 in the section on "Setting Up Your Personal Stream"), follow the instructions listed. Your personal stream is your lastname.#.
- Organizational accounts with a single login: Your login is the same as it is when you are reading e-mail, and your stream is the organizational username.
- Organizational accounts with multiple logins (cluster accounts):
- When you are logging into the Anti-Spam Service, you will be unable to use your username to log into the service. You will, however, be able to use the main account username along with the password you normally use when using your individual username. Example:deptaccount01, deptaccount02, and deptaccount03 all read e-mail sent to deptaccount@osu.edu. The username to access the Anti-Spam service is deptaccount, but the password is any one of the individual passwords corresponding with deptaccount01, deptaccount02, or deptaccount03. (Reference: Anti-Spam Service: Getting Started - Turning on the Service (step 3 in the section on "Setting Up Your Personal Stream"
- When you are setting up the stream (step 8 in the section on "Setting Up Your Personal Stream"), your stream is the main organizational account name (in the example above, it would be deptacct).
- Note:Any changes or rules placed in the personal stream for a multi-user account by any of the users will apply to the main account, and thus for all the users of that account.
- Organizational address that forwards to a different e-mail address (Example: collegeacct@osu.edu forwards to collegeacct@collegemail.edu). Because there is no login for this address, the Anti-Spam service is unavailable. If you would like to use the Anti-Spam service, you will need to send e-mail to 8help@osu.edu to request a login to the organizational address. Note that in this case only e-mail sent to collegeacct@osu.edu will be filtered through the Anti-Spam service. E-mail sent directly to collegeacct@collegemail.edu will not.
