OSU Wireless-Network: Saved Usernames and Passwords
When logging onto the OSU Wireless-Network, it is possible to store your username and password, thus preventing you from needing to retype your credentials. (Windows XP zero configuration does this automatically.)
If you need to delete the stored credentials, follow these steps:
Windows XP:
- Click on Start and click Run....
- Type regedit.
- Double-click My Computer so it shows all of its included contents.
- Double-click HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
- Double-click Software.
- Double-click Microsoft.
- Double-click EAPOL.
- Double-click UserEapInfo.
- You will see a folder named with hexadecimal characters (a mix of numbers and letters). Click this folder.
- On the right side of the window, locate the item named 1.
- Right-click this item and choose Delete.
WARNING: This procedure involves editing the Windows Registry. Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious, system-wide problems that may require you to re-install Windows to correct them. Use this tool at your own risk.
This article explains how to create a script that can be manually run to perform all the above steps.
Mac OS X:
- Open up the Applications folder.
- Double-click Utilities to open the Utilties folder.
- Double-click Keychain Access.
- Select All Items on the left hand side.
- Select osuwireless. (NOTE: This may be called something else depending on what you named the Internet Connect connection. Look for an item that has login in the "Keychain" column.
- With the login item selected, hit Delete on your keyboard.
You will then be asked if you are sure you want to delete the item. Click Delete.
