OSU Wireless-Network: Portable Gaming Devices
Many portable gaming devices, such as the Nintendo DS and the Sony PSP, have online capabilities via a wireless Internet connection. Wi-Fi capable products will only be able to connect to osuwireless if they support both WPA encryption and the 802.1x standard.
Nintendo DS:
The Nintendo DS currently only supports WEP encryption, and therefore cannot natively connect to osuwireless.
At this time, Nintendo has not announced any plans to implement WPA on the Nintendo DS.
Sony PSP:
The latest firmware for the Sony PSP enables support for WPA-PSK encryption, but not the 802.1x standard. This means that the Sony PSP will be able to connect to home/office networks using WPA-PSK encryption, but not the osuwireless network.
Support:
The OIT Help Desk can provide support for wireless connectivity but cannot provide support for connecting a gaming device to a wired or wireless network. Questions in regards to connecting a portable gaming device to a network should be directed to the manufacturer of the device.
