OSU Wireless-Network: Guest and Visitor Access
Access to the OSU Wireless network (via the osuwireless SSID) is restricted to OSU staff, faculty, and students. Since guests and visitors are unable to utilize osuwireless without a valid name.#w, a separate SSID, osuguest, has been implemented throughout campus. This network, unlike osuwireless, requires no setup for encryption. Note that this guest network is unencrypted. Please take any and all necessary steps to secure your device when connecting to osuguest, and avoid performing any tasks that are considered confidential.
This network is restricted to OSU faculty and staff sponsored guests and is not for faculty, staff, or student use.
Services on osuguest have been limited the following:
- VPN
- Secure Shell (SSH)
- Secure POP3, IMAP, SMTP
- HTTP and HTTPS web browsing
- Instant Messaging (AIM, Novell, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ)
Once associated to osuguest, you must first open a web browser and attempt to navigate to a website. This attempt will redirect you to the "OSUGuest - Wireless Network Captive Portal". At this page, read the acceptable use policy and enter in your wireless guest credentials. If you have not been given or have forgotten your wireless guest credentials, please speak with the department, college, or event leader sponsoring your visit.
Staff and Faculty:
If you are a staff or faculty member and wish to receive information regarding guest wireless account provisioning, please visit the OSU Wireless Network website.
Guests and Visitors:
If you are a guest or visitor to the university and wish to obtain wireless network access via the "osuguest" SSID, please speak with someone within the department or office sponsoring your visit.
