Configuring Windows XP to use HomeNet



Use these instructions to configure a Windows XP machine to connect to the HomeNet dial-up service.

  1. Go to Start and Control Panel.
  2. In Classic View go to Network Connections then to "Add A New Connection" on the left hand side.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Select "Connect to the Internet" and click Next.
  5. Select "Setup my connection manually" and click Next.
  6. Select "Connect using a Dial-Up Modem" and click Next.
  7. In the "ISP Name" field, enter "Homenet Short" and click Next.
  8. In the "Phone Number" field, enter 722-9800 and click Next.
  9. You want to create this connection for Anyone's Use.
  10. Enter your OSU Internet Username and Password in the fields and click Next.
  11. On the last screen select the box marked "Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop".
  12. Click Finish.

You now have a shortcut on your desktop to open the HomeNet Short Connection. Complete the following steps again for Homnet Long and in step 8 enter 722-9900 for the phone number.
