Configuring Windows XP to use HomeNet
Use these instructions to configure a Windows XP machine to connect to the HomeNet dial-up service.
- Go to Start and Control Panel.
- In Classic View go to Network Connections then to "Add A New Connection" on the left hand side.
- Click Next.
- Select "Connect to the Internet" and click Next.
- Select "Setup my connection manually" and click Next.
- Select "Connect using a Dial-Up Modem" and click Next.
- In the "ISP Name" field, enter "Homenet Short" and click Next.
- In the "Phone Number" field, enter 722-9800 and click Next.
- You want to create this connection for Anyone's Use.
- Enter your OSU Internet Username and Password in the fields and click Next.
- On the last screen select the box marked "Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop".
- Click Finish.
You now have a shortcut on your desktop to open the HomeNet Short Connection. Complete the following steps again for Homnet Long and in step 8 enter 722-9900 for the phone number.
