Turnitin Sofware, plagiarism prevention system
The offices of Enrollment Services and Undergraduate Education and the Graduate School have purchased a three-year license that enables all members of the university’s teaching staff and their classes to utilize the Turnitin program. The service scans documents to determine if they contain undocumented source material, which makes it useful for both instruction as well as plagiarism prevention.
The Council of Academic Affairs and those who have used it in the past underscore its utility for instruction as well as detection. Details on the service are available at http://turnitin.com/static/home.html.
Faculty who would like to be set up to use the service should contact Peter W Pappas, Ph.D., who is the Coordinator of the Committee on Academic Misconduct.
