OSU Wireless-Network: Residence Halls (Dorms)
The Office of Information Technology and the Office of Student Life have deployed the 'osuwireless' network in the majority of the main campus residence halls. Though this network seems identical campus-wide (the name 'osuwireless'), connecting in the residence halls requires an additional step.
After acquiring an OSU Wireless Account, all devices should be configured per available setup instructions. Once connected in the residence halls, users will need to open a web browser and log into a splash page (captive portal) using their lastname.#, similar to when using the wired connections.
The following distinction should be noted:
- The OSU Wireless-Network uses your lastname.#w account and associated password.
This account is only used for 'osuwireless' login. - The captive portal login (through the web browser) uses your lastname.# account and associated password.
This account is used for much of your access on campus, including email, Carmen, and Buckeye Link.
Problems connecting in the residence halls, specifically with login problems through the splash page, should be addressed with Student Life ResNet at 292-5700.
