Error: 64 UDP Streams Already Open

On Macintosh Classic operating systems (OS 9.x and previous), it's possible to try and use Eudora and see the error:


Error 23009: Already 64 UDP Streams Open / Change TCP/IP settings

Usually, this error will mean that the individual is not connected to the Internet and Eudora thinks it's in Offline Mode. Check to make sure they are logging on, then go to the "Getting Started" category in Eudora and take the check mark out of the "Offline" box.

If that doesn't work, open the TCP/IP control panel, and go to the Edit menu and choose User Mode. Select "Advanced", and click OK. Then click the Options button in the main TCP/IP control panel screen. Next, turn the "Load only when Needed" box off.

One other solution is to upgrade to the most recent version of Eudora, since this problem only occurs in the versions older than version 5.0.
