Topic: I get a message 'There is a problem with the disk >disk name>. Some information may have been lost. Check any recently-used files for data loss, and use a disk-repair program on the disk.'
What is causing this message to be displayed?
This message is new to Mac OS 8 and is displayed when an error is encountered when writing data from the disk cache to volume. Since this error does not occur when data is saved but occurs when the disk cache is written to the disk, the OS displays the message and not the application that was used to edit the data. This message is displayed when there is write error and is indicative of a problem with the disk named in the message. AppleTIL Article: 24176
