Checking OSU E-mail on a Blackberry Using IMAP
Checking your OSU E-mail on a Blackberry using IMAP will allow you to keep the e-mail on the server so that you may check the same messages using an e-mail client, such as Eudora or Thunderbird, on your computer.
Note: To ensure the e-mail is available for the Blackberry to check, you may also want to setup your e-mail client to use IMAP or, if the client is using POP, set it to leave a copy of the messages on the server for a certain number of days.
To configure your Blackberry device:
- Log in to your BlackBerry Internet Service account (select your region and provider at the bottom of the page). The following images are from an account setup for a Blackberry using Sprint service, but other providers should follow the same procedure.
- Access the e-mail accounts section and setup a new e-mail account.
- Enter your OSU e-mail address and password.
- The website may fail at verifying the account because it guessed at the mail server to use. Select to provide the settings manually.
- Enter the following information:
E-mail Address: name.#@osu.edu
User Name: name.#
Password: Password for your name.#
Server: imap.service.ohio-state.edu
Server Type: IMAP
Check "Use SSL" (on port 993 if asked).
- Your OSU account should now be configured for your Blackberry device. (There may be some delay before the new account is pushed out to your Blackberry.)
