Windows 95/98 Shutdown problem



Computer hangs and does not display the "OK to shut down machine" screen.

1) Turn off computer with power switch and restart at least twice.
2) Turn off computer and place the boot disk in drive a and run scandisk on drive C:
3) Run virus checker from DOS prompt to check for virus. If you don't have a disk you can run a virus checker create one using your virus checker. If you are using McAfee VirusScan go to "Create Emergency Disk" from the Windows Program menu to create disk. Other virus checkers will have a similar capability. Read the instruction manual for instructions. If you don't have a virus checker, get one!
4) If you are upgrading from 95 to 98 and experience this problem there are some additional potential solutions.
a) Some older machines may have problems, check with store you purchased the computer or the computer manufacturer
b) Video card driver may be outdated
