Outgoing OSU email from another ISP connection
If you connect to the Internet using an Internet service provider other than The Ohio State University, you will not be able to send e-mail using OSU's outgoing mail server (smtp.service.ohio-state.edu).
Go into your e-mail account settings and change the outgoing mail (SMTP) server setting to that of your Internet service provider. If you don't know what your ISP's SMTP server is, a list of common ISPs and their SMTP servers can be found here.
Alternately, another option for sending mail when connecting through an outside Internet service provider is to use the OSUNet VPN to establish a VPN connection, enabling to use smtp.service.ohio-state.edu regardless of your connection.
