Citrix Setup & Connection Instructions for Windows
Important!
OIT is aware Citrix released a new client on 9/29. We are in the process of updating the following instructions. Office of the CIO staff should obtain Citrix XenApp locally for the time being and follow Steps 1 through 10 below to do the installation.
The instructions that follow explain how to set up the Citrix ICA client for Windows.
- Go to the Citrix
web site.
- Select XenApp Plugin (Client) - Version 11.000.
- Select XenApp Plugin for Hosted Apps - Version
11.000 as illustrated
above. When prompted whether to Run or Save the file, select Save.
- When the download is finished, locate and double-click
the
installer file (XenAppHosted.msi).
- When the Citrix splash page appears, click Next >.
- Read and accept the license agreement that appears. Click Next > to proceed.
- Click
next to Program Neighborhood.
- Select the option Entire feature will be installed on
local hard drive.
Note: You do not need Citrix XenApp plugin. Click next to the option Citrix XenApp Plugin and select Entire feature will be unavailable to skip installing this.
- Six addtional screens appear. Accept the defaults
by clicking Next > until the software begins
installing.
- Click Finish to exit the setup.
Note: If you seee a dialog box prompting for the server address, just click Cancel.
- Once the software has been installed, open Citrix >
Program Neighborhood from within Start/All
Programs.
- Select Custom ICA Connections and then click
.
- Select TCP/IP from the Network
Protocol menu list and then click Add.
- Type ica.service.ohio-state.edu and click OK.
- Click OK to close the Custom ICA Connections dialog
box.
- Double-click Add ICA Connection.
- Verify the connection type is
the default option
Local Area Network, and click Next >.
- Do the following:
Type a name of your choice for the connection.
Select TCP/IP from the Protocol menu list.
Select Published Application.
Select ARMS Server Farm from the Name menu list.
Click Next >.
- Select View in a remote desktop window and click Next
>.
- Leave the default options selected and click Next
>. Note: If the default is not showing as 128 bit, be sure to select that option from the menu list.
- Leave these fields blank; you will be prompted for the information
when you connect. Click Next >.
- Use the defauts for Window Colors and Window
Size if your computer supports them. Otherwise, make sure Windows
Colors are
set to at least 256 colors or higher and Percent
of Screen Size is set
to at least 75.
Click Next >.
- Click Finish.
The new connection now appears in the Citrix
Program Neighborhood dialog box. If you like, you can make a shortcut for your desktop.
- To open a Citrix connection, double-click its entry in the dialog box or on the desktop icon you created. Enter your login information when prompted.
