Turning off Windows Scripting Host



Choose the instructions below appropriate for your version of Microsoft Windows.

Windows 2000, Windows Me and Windows XP
  1. Open "My Computer".
  2. Select "Tools/Folder Options".
  3. Click on File Types tab.
  4. Find VBScript Script File.
  5. Select Delete.
  6. Click OK.


Windows 95
    Note: Not all users of Windows 95 will have Windows Scripting Host installed. It is available on editions of Windows 95 SR-2 and later. It might also have been installed separately or along with Internet Explorer 5.0 or later.

  1. Open "My Computer".
  2. Select "View/Options".
  3. Click on "File Types" tab.
  4. Find VBScript Script File.
  5. Select Remove.
  6. Click OK.


Windows 98
  1. Click on Start (the button on lower left of your Windows desktop).
  2. Click on "Settings".
  3. Chose "Control Panel".
  4. Click on "Add/Remove".
  5. Chose the "Windows Setup" tab.
  6. Click on "Accessories" to obtain details.
  7. Uncheck "Windows Scripting Host" if it is checked.
  8. Click on OK to save any changes


Windows NT
  1. Open "My Computer".
  2. Select "View/Options".
  3. Click on File Types tab.
  4. Find VBScript Script File.
  5. Select Remove.
  6. Click OK.
