Installing SAS on a Windows XP Machine from DVD



The following steps will install SAS onto a Windows 2000/XP/Vista machine.
Before attemtping to install SAS please make sure your Windows 2000/XP/Vista software is up to date.

Windows Update is a page where Windows users can go to scan their current system and find out what updates and patches are available for their version of Windows.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
Operating System: Windows NT 4.0 (with Service Pack 6a or higher), Windows 2000 with Service Pack 3 and Windows XP with Service Pack 1. Explorer 5.0 or later is required for viewing the new online help. SAS recommends Internet Explorer for maximum flexibility in using the Help system.

Media Type Supported: DVD-ROM

Memory Requirements: 128 MB RAM minimum, at least 128 MB of swapfile space;
Hard Drive Space Required: about 850 MB

Checking System Requirements

  1. Insert the DVD labeled SAS Setup Disk into your DVD drive.
  2. - If the installation does not start automatically, browse the DVD and run setup.exe
  3. Choose your language to install.
  4. Click on Step 2: Verify System Requirements. SAS install screen
  5. Click Next in the Systems Components Update window.
  6. Once the wizard is done, click Finish.
    NOTICE:
    Your computer may ask you to restart your machine to verify your system requirements. If you are prompted to restart go ahead and do so and the install will continue automatically.
Installing SAS
  1. If your system meets the system requirements, click on Step 3: Install SAS from the main menu.
  2. Click Next.
  3. Check File to retrieve the System Installiation Data from the file sent to you by OIT Customer Services. Browse to where you have stored this and click Open. Then click Next.
  4. Click Next on the "SAS Installation Data Retrieved" window.
  5. Choose where you want SAS to be installed and click Next
  6. Click Next accepting the default folder to install SAS, or choose where you want to install the Data Files and click Next.
  7. Click Next to use the default temporary folder.
  8. Select which components you would like to install and click Next.
  9. Click Next to start copying files.
  10. On the "Confirm Update" window check the box net to "Use this response for all file types" and then choose Yes.
  11. Click Finish and SAS is installed.
