Testing Anti Virus Software
To test your anti-virus software so you are sure it is working, copy and paste the following line of text into a text editor, such as Notepad, and save the file as EICAR.COM :
X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*
Next, scan this file with your anti virus software. If it is working properly, it should detect it as "EICAR test file." You can then delete the file.
