Why Do I Have More Than One Documents Folder?
To provide backwards compatibility while users and software developers make the transition from the Mac OS 9.X to OS X, it is necessary to have both Mac OS 9 and OS X loaded on all Macintoshes.
The Documents folder found at the top level of the hard drive where Mac OS 9.X is loaded is used by Mac OS 9 and Classic applications.
The Documents folder found in the top level of the users area under OS X is for the use of all OS X applications; they are physically separate folders.
Note: Many computers shipped from Apple do not come with Mac OS 9.2.2 (Classic) installed. Users who need Mac OS 9.2.2 can install it manually from the installation CD or DVD that comes with the Macintosh.
