MATLAB Crashes In Windows Vista
When trying to install/run MATLAB on Windows Vista an error at the splash screen can cause the application to crash. If you encounter this, one possible fix is to set a system environment variable:
- From your Start/Windows button, click Control Panel.
- Click System and Maintenance, then System, then under Tasks, select Advanced System Settings. (The exact location/path to the Advanced System Settings window may vary depending on your specific edition of Vista)
- If necessary, click the "Advanced" tab.
- Click the Environment Variables button.
- Click New button under the System Variables list to create a new system variable.
- Name the variable: MATLAB_RESERVE_LO and set its value equal to 0.
- Click OK to exit the window and apply the changes.
- You may also need to log out of Windows or restart your system after making these changes.
