Installing X11 Under Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
You must use the installer from the Tiger disk, as the downloadable installer at Apple's web page doesn't work, reporting that you already have a newer version of the package.
To install X11 from the CD:
- Insert your Tiger (10.4) install disk.
- Scroll Down to the Optional Packages.
- Agree to the terms.
- When it gives you the option to select which packages, expand the applications tree listed.
- Check "X11" under packages.
- Click Install.
Installation should be automated from this point on. X11 may give an error the first time it is run (due to the user files not being present, or old ones being present. Simply confirm it is to set these aside and create new ones.
