Installing SPSS 16 on Windows XP



This article will walk you through downloading SPSS and installing the program on your computer. If you obtained the disc from OIT, you may advance onto the Installing SPSS part of the article.

To download:
  1. Go to osusls.osu.edu.
  2. Click on Windows Software.
  3. Click on SPSS v16.
  4. Enter your OSU Internet Username and click Download SPSS.
  5. When given the option, save the file to the desktop or another familiar folder.
  6. Select Run when the file download completes.
  7. Create a new folder on the desktop labeled SPSS.
  8. In the WinZip Self-Extractor, click Browse and navigate to the new desktop folder.
  9. Click Unzip.
  10. Once unzipped, open the desktop folder and double click Setup.
Installing SPSS:
  1. On the window that pops up, click Install SPSS.
  2. Select the Site License option and click Next.
  3. Read over and accept the license agreement. Click Next.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Enter in a username and organization.
  6. Enter in the 7 digit serial number.
  7. Click Next
  8. After choosing the destination folder, click Next and Install. SPSS will install itself.
  9. Once the program installs, click OK to enter the Authorization Wizard.
  10. The window that pops up will be the License Authorization Wizard.
License Authorization Wizard:
  1. Make sure License my product now is selected then click Next.
  2. Click Next.
  3. Enter in the authorization code off of the sheet from OIT Customer Services. Click Next.
  4. Make sure Internet is selected then click Next.
  5. Once the authorization is complete click Next
  6. Click Finish.
You have successfully installed SPSS!
