Configuring Outlook 2007 To Sync With Buckeye Mail

NOTE: You must access Buckeye Mail at least once on the web to complete the account setup before you can use a client.

To configure Outlook 2007 to automatically sync your mail, contacts, and calendars from Buckeye Mail:

  1. Go to Start -> Control Panels

  2. If you're not currently in "Classic View", click the "Classic View" or "Switch to Classic View" link on the left-hand sidebar.

  3. Double-click the Mail icon. If you've never run Outlook on this computer before, then Mail won't appear - instead run Outlook for the first time and skip to step 7).

  4. Click Show Profiles

  5. Click Add...

  6. Enter a name for the new profile, such as "Buckeye Mail", click OK.

  7. The "Add New E-mail Account" wizard should start automatically.

    Add Account Screenshot

    For E-mail Address: enter lastname.#@buckeyemail.osu.edu.

  8. If you wish, adjust Your Name as you'd like it to appear on outgoing mail.

  9. Enter your Buckeye Mail password, and re-type it in the boxes provided.

  10. Click Next.

  11. There will be a delay while Outlook talks to the server to discover the correct settings. Outlook will display a message that asks you to allow a Web site to configure the Outlook settings. Outlook runs auto-configure periodically. If you don't want to see this message every time auto-configure runs, select "Don't ask me about this website again", and then click Allow.

    Autodiscover Warning

  12. You will be asked for your user name and password. Make sure that you enter your full e-mail address (lastname.#@buckeyemail.osu.edu) as your user name, and use your Buckeye Mail password, then click OK. You may be prompted to enter your user name and password multiple times before you connect.

  13. There will be another delay while Outlook finishes configuring itself to sync with Buckeye Mail. When it's completed, you'll see a Congratulations box appear confirming that your account is now configured to work with Microsoft Exchange.

  14. Click Finish
