Configuring Windows Live Hotmail To Directly Check Your OSU Webmail



Windows Live Hotmail can be configured to directly check your OSU Webmail and download it into your Hotmail account. Here are the instructions for setting this up:

  1. Log into your Windows Live Hotmail account.
  2. Under the list of mailboxes on the left, click "Add an e-mail account".
  3. Click "Advanced options".
  4. For E-mail address:, enter: lastname.#@osu.edu
  5. For POP3 user name:, enter your OSU Internet Username ( lastname.# )
  6. For Password:, enter the password you use for OSU Webmail.
  7. For Incoming mail server:, enter: pop.service.ohio-state.edu
  8. Uncheck the box next to "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)". Verify that Port is now set to 110.
  9. Click Next.
  10. If you wish you can have your OSU mail sent to a specific folder, or labeled in some special way. Set this as you wish, then click Save.

Your OSU Webmail messages will now be imported into your Windows Live Hotmail account for you to read. Please note that only messages in the Inbox will be imported.
